14-11-23 | Batman’s 1950s adventures in space are not among his most popular. His battles with space invaders and mechanical monsters are at odds with everything the Dark Knight stands for. And yet DC Comics has decided to launch Batman into space once more! Batman Off-World is not an homage to the vintage science fiction adventures of the 1950s, but instead reinterprets outer space to fit Batman’s style of storytelling.
‘A routine night in Gotham City for a young Batman proves to be anything but routine when the crime-fighter is confronted with a sort of foe he’s never faced before—one from beyond the stars! A universe of possible alien threats leads Batman to make a daring decision—to venture alone into the far reaches of the cosmos for the very first time, where the Dark Knight will face the fight of his life!’
Batman Off-World is written by immensely popular writer Jason Aaron. Known for his creative take on the Marvel universe, Aaron takes on Batman for the first time. The three part series is a unique twist on the Batman mythos. One that fits the Caped Crusader like a glove. Despite his frequent team-ups with Superman, Batman has never really lent himself to science fiction. And Batman Off-World might be the comic to change all that. Pick up its first issue next week!
