08-06-23 | Thrill to the epic adventures of Conan the Barbarian once more! Titan Books is about to rerelease the vintage run of Marvel Comics that cemented the popularity of this savage warrior in the early seventies. Over the years Marvel has released it’s share of Conan paperbacks, but this hardcover is something else entirely. Conan the Barbarian: The Original Comics Omnibus collects three years’ worth of fantasy adventures, restoring them to their former glory.
First published in pulp magazines in 1932, Conan the Barbarian redefined fantasy literature for generations to come. Rather than relying on historical context, author Robert E. Howard created his own ‘lost era of history’ dubbed the Hyborian Age. Writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor-Smith took Howard’s cunning warrior to the next level in 1970 in the pages of Marvel Comics’ Conan the Barbarian.
Titan’s omnibus collects the first 26 issues, plus two issues of Savage Tales, the black & white magazine which allowed the creative team to be even more brutal than its colour counterpart. A second volume of Conan the Barbarian: The Original Comics Omnibus has already been announced for release in August. And stay tuned for more news about Conan publications from Titan Books. The first issue of a brand new adventure series will debut in July.
